The Old Oak Interim Neighbourhood Forum has been meeting as a ‘shadow’ body during 2016 and 2017, while we await formal designation. At our open meetings we discuss next steps, and latest news from the OPDC, HS2, and Hammersmith and Fulham Council. We have also been spending time in preparing responses to the the two rounds of public consultation on the OPDC Local Plan,.
A set of slides is presented to each meeting, setting out the agenda and including maps, plans, and images of the new developments coming forward for planning approval. We try to keep paperwork to a minimum, and to ensure that everyone at our meetings can keep up to speed. All are welcome and no previous knowledge of planning issues is needed.
We usually meet at 6.30 pm, in the ‘community space’ at the new Collective building, in Old Oak Lane. We are grateful for the ongoing support of the management of the Collective in providing this space for free, and this venue has the advantage of the building’s lively bar for any of those who wish to stay on to chat after the meeting.
We circulate a newsletter to all members of the forum. This includes those members who live and work within the neighbourhood area now designated, and will continue to include ‘affiliate’ members who live or work in the wider area for which we originally sought designation. The impact of OPDC plans extends across the northern parts of Hammersmith and of Kensington and Chelsea, as well as the eastern part of Ealing and the southern part of Brent.
